Monthly Book Recommendation #1

Good evening fellow blog readers!

Aside from writing, one of my favorite things to do is read. (That should be a given.) So I’m deciding to do book recommendations from now on. Yay!

The first book I am going to recommend is one I read recently in my book club.

“Artemis” by Andy Weir

“Jazz Bashara is a criminal.

Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you’re not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you’ve got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.

Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of her problems, as she learns that she’s stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself—and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even riskier than the first.”

(Synopsis from

This is a good one. If you like Sci-Fi, you’ll definitely love this one.

It has a strong female lead, it’s action-packed, and it’s about life on the moon. What more could you ask for?

With some books, I have a hard time pushing through the book. I have to force myself to keep reading. Artemis was one of those books where I didn’t feel that way. I finished the book in about 3 days (which is quick for myself).

When reading, some books have little quirks and whatnot that seem to bother me. Artemis is one of those books that I didn’t find anything wrong with. I enjoyed the dark and crude humor, personally. I enjoyed Jazz’s care-free, fuck you attitude. (I love that in a female character.) The book leaves you wanting more. You want to know what trouble Jazz is going to get into next. What will be her next dilemma? How will she solve it?

Overall, I gave the book a 5/5 rating. I would recommend it, and I’m interested in reading more of Weir’s books.
